Dystonia.

Overview

Dystonia means abnormal, involuntary muscle movements due to sustained muscle contractions that result in twisting and/or repetitive, patterned movements. Dystonia can affect a single body part, segmental body parts or can be generalized across the body. Localized (focal) dystonias include hemi-facial spasm and blepharospasm, and the involuntary forceful opening and closing of the eyelid. Texas Parkinson and Movement Disorders treats both conditions with Botulinum (Botox) injections.
